PETALING JAYA: The Ujian Pen­capaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) results will be released next Thursday.

Pupils can collect the results from their school after 10am, said the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate (MES) in a statement yesterday.

A total of 497,691 pupils sat for the examination this year. It was held from Sept 13 to 15.

The MES said an analysis of the results will be announced on the same day at the Education Ministry.

The Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) 2010 examination results will be announced on Nov 11, the Examinations Board said in a statement on Thursday.

Candidates can obtain the results from their schools after 10am. A total 494,493 candidates sat for UPSR at 8,192 examination centres nationwide.

SYDNEY: The Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) will be changed to be a school-based assessment examination beginning 2016 while the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) will remain as it is but with improved syllabus, said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Deputy Prime Minister said a committee that was formed to study both examinations had concluded that major changes were needed for it to stay relevant in the current environment.

He said the changes took into account the proposal to replace both examinations with school-based assessments.

“The proposal was discussed in two roundtable sessions which in general, agreed that the PMR should be changed to be a school-based assessment examination.

據國大醫院小兒科主任兼高級顧問醫生吳炎添副教授說，感冒是腦膜炎的普遍症狀，因此很多人容易把感冒當成單純的感冒治療，沒發現那其實是腦膜炎，嚴重的話可能導致死亡。

他說︰“被診斷為一般感冒也不是醫生的疏忽，因為它確實很難診斷。”

因此，他說避免這類情況的方式就是年幼時打疫苗，以免為時已晚。孩患上感冒可能並非單純的感冒，可能是腦膜炎！據國大醫院小兒科主任兼高級顧問醫生吳炎添副教授說，感冒是腦膜炎的普遍症狀，因此很多人容易把感冒當成單純的感冒治療，沒發現那其實是腦膜炎，嚴重的話可能導致死亡。他說，症狀主要是發燒、疲累、嘔吐、精神不集中等，和一般感冒很相似，也不容易診斷出甚麼更嚴重的病。腦膜炎是由一種叫肺炎鏈球菌（pneumococcus）的病菌造成的。這種病菌所造成的病統稱為肺炎鏈球菌疾病（pneumococcal disease），包括中耳炎、肺炎、腦膜炎等。這些病容易被診斷為感冒，但等到病菌出現在特定器官時，患者往往已病入膏肓。他說︰“被診斷為一般感冒也不是醫生的疏忽，因為它確實很難診斷。”因此，他說避免這類情況的方式就是年幼時打疫苗，以免為時已晚。"

（柔佛‧新山）教育部副部長拿督魏家祥表示，在教育部重要指南下，教師或教育工作者不能以強迫或任何方式，強迫所執教班上的學生參加校外補習班。在處理教師是否可以開校外補習班問題上，教育部會基於人道及伸縮性處理，教師只能在不影響正課情況下，從事校外教補習的工作。

魏家祥針對一名不願署名，聲稱為學生的家長致函星洲日報，申訴新山某華小教師以“半強迫”手法要學生參加校外補習班等多項指責，向星洲日報作出上述回應。而開校外補習班的教師也不能涉及泄題，否則即可被紀律處分。

副首相丹斯里慕尤丁今日（週六，3月20日）披露，內阁週五（3月19日）同意增加华小及淡小的国文和英文科目上课时间，以取代政府所取消的英文教数理政策。

他说，教育部將在华小第一阶段，即一至三年级增加60分钟的国文科时间；而第二阶段，即四至五年级则增加90分钟。

“至於英文科目，华小在第一阶段增加60分钟，而第二阶段则增加30分钟。也有人提及应该拨出更多时间教授英文，我们会再考虑这个问题。”

Sports will be introduced to school timetables next year as a new subject, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said under the 1Student, 1Sport policy, secondary school students would get 90 minutes a week to play a game of their choice, while primary pupils would spend 60 minutes weekly.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister, said the Physical Education subject would still be taught as it had a specific syllabus.

Currently, primary pupils spend 60 minutes weekly at Physical Education, while secondary school students spend 80 minutes.

鉴於拨款削减，全国教师每年须出席7天在职培训的规定，於今年及明年將改以混合方式（blended approach）进行，包括了通过阅读书籍与分享（book review）、导师―导生制或同辈训练等来取代原有的模式。

在上述各项替代方案中，其中阅读书籍的方式最为引人注意，教师获准以阅读7本书以及进行约半小时的內容分享（每完成阅读一本书）来取代7天的在职培训。

教育部师资培训组（BPG）联同各州教育局於2008年开始，展开校本（school-based）师资培训，根据通令確保每位教师一年內参与培训课程至少7天。

而在今年，教育部经已策划多达159项课程供大约66万4632名教师参与，预计耗资1亿2600万令吉的经费。

大马华文小学家长会总会主席黄华生指出，纳入正课的任何科目都必须由教育部负责师资和费用，没有收费的道理。

他接受星洲日报电访时说，一旦开了先例，担心未来任何新课程都可以收费，或由校方三机构负责承担费用。

他说，没有人会反对电脑班，只是反对人为操纵。电脑班可以只是一项课外活动，並不强制所有学生参加，而不参加的学生也不会受到“特別待遇”。

According to the latest news from The Star, sports activities will be made compulsory in 10,000 schools nationwide starting next year and each student will be required to select a game of his or her choice.

Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said this meant that sports would have a separate syllabus and would no longer be part of the co-curriculum activity as is the current practice.

为了確保学生在3年的小学教育掌握基本的读写算技能，全国华小將在今年推行识字与精算计划（LINUS），而所有一年级学生必须在3月参加国语水平测试。

据《星洲日报》探悉，各州教育局已分发国文水平测试的试卷给学校。而看过试卷考题的校长和老师都觉得这张试卷有一定的难度，並非一般学生都能通过。

这张试卷的总分是12分，考获9分或以上的学生可以如常上课，3至8分的学生须参与LINUS，1至2分则须加入LINUS特別辅导。

教育部副部长拿督魏家祥说，在2011年教改中，小学六年级评估考试的科目將保持不变，而新科目《马来西亚，我的国家》不会被列为考试科。

他也说，新课程纲要强调学生必须在小学第一阶段（一至三年级）掌握读写算（3M）能力，教育部还在斟酌是否要让无法掌握基本技能的学生留级。

“明年最大的教改是学生在三年级时必须掌握基本的读写算技巧，而且会有个制度一直在评估学生是否能掌握3M，过关了才上更高年级。”

虽然这个看似跟小学没什么关系的新闻，但我相信很多父母都会关注它，特别是家里有孩子刚考完 UPSR 的父母。我国独中新生人数屡创新高，唯独槟城独中新生人数减少。新闻报导如下：-

华文独中新生人数屡创新高，全马独中新生较去年增加1077人，而另有2635人因为校舍空间及硬体设备的局限，被拒於独中门外。

雪隆一些独中更出现只收最好学生的现象，因为学额真的很不够。

为了不令家长失望，柔佛州部份独中更是义无反顾的超收学生，这些独中包括新山宽柔中学、宽柔中学古来分校、笨珍培群中学。

今年共有1万3590名莘莘学子进入61独中求学，包括1所分校。

The Education Ministry today announced Sept 21 to 23 next year as the dates for Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination, while Oct 5, 6, 7, 11 and 12 were fixed for the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examination.

Director-General of Education Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom, in a statement here today, said the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination would be held from Nov 22 to Dec 16 next year, while the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Ulangan (SPMU) examination was scheduled for June 22 and 23.
